Happy Kwanzaa 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok everyone... so I know you all are running around trying to get all the last minute gifts for your loved ones this Christmas and while I do celebrate Christmas I just wanted to acknowledge another important holiday that is fast approaching................................. and that's Kwanzaa!!!!

My family has been celebrating Kwanzaa for over 7 years and I always look forward to this time of reflection and re-focusing to help me transition into the new year. Kwanzaa is celebrated during the Christmas and New Years season for a very deliberate reason. It encourages us to see our beauty as a people as well as the true importance of the holidays, which is family, unity, and our responsibility for each others' wellfare. It also allows us to prepare ourselves mentally for the next year.

Through the 7 principles of Kwanzaa I am able to look back at the passing year and see what I've learned about myself, others, and life as a whole.

The thing about Kwanzaa is that we are suppose to live each principle all days of the year. Its sort of like a character building checklist of things that we can do to improve ourselves and our brothers and sisters.

Ngozo Saba (7 Principles)

UMOJA (Unity)

KUJICHAGULIA (Self-Determination)

UJIMA (Collective Work & Responsibility)

UJAMAA (Cooperative Economics)

NIA (Purpose)

KUUMBA (Creativity)

IMANI (Faith)

I love that the last principle of Kwanzaa is Imani - Faith. It is the one most important thing that we need to rely on when moving into the new year... the unknown. We must have faith in ourselves and in each other that we will continue to strive towards our greatest potentials.

I am not trying to kick knowledge........ well actually yes, I guess I am. But you know what, that is my responsibility. It's all of our responsibilities to better ourselves and those around us and share in all that we have whether it be food for our body or food for our souls.

If you've ever celebrated Kwanzaa or even if you haven't please feel free to leave a comment on what your thoughts are about this Holiday!................................................................................

The Business of Blogging

I just wanted to take a moment to show much love to Natasha Eubanks, the creator of one of my favorite blogs, The YBF! She was recently featured on the cover of Black Enterprise magazine along with other young Black entrepreneurs unde ther age of 35 that have paved their own roads towards success. Check out her interview here.

I visit this site daily. I don't drink coffee so the YBF serves as my morning cup of Joe and because of that I definitely feel like I played a little part in this accomplishment.
Last year Natasha's blogsite generated $1 million dollars in revenue!

Tasha explains that her"purpose has evolved from just simply writing about red carpets, fab celebrities, and foolywang. I hope to create a path for others to see and follow that encompasses ownership of our own brands and businesses, responsibility, being fabulous in our own right, and putting our own community on a pedestal."

I personally think that Natasha embodies everything that her blog stands for. The empowerment of the Young Black and Fabulous! Go head Girl!!

If you've ever visited Natasha's blog, The YBF, please feel free to share your thoughts on her site................................................................................................................................

p.s. ok people... this just goes to show you that every view counts... if you like what I have going on here please feel free to view my blog as many times a day as you wish! ;) Just keep on clicking! leave a comment! Scroll around make yourself comfortable! Maybe one day I too can boast of turning my hobby into a money making machine like Tasha! Hey..... it can happen! :D

Element of Freedom Album Releas Party @ Greenhouse!

So last Wednesday I went to one of the many album release parties for Alicia Keys' new album Element of Freed . It was at Greenhouse. I've been wanting to check this new hotspot out, and I must say for a New York club it's a pretty nice spot.
(Let's be honest here NYC is a party city but most of our venues are nothing to brag about.)

I also debuted my new shorter more natural do! So... do you like?

At the party I ran into the infamous Naomi who I'm always ranting and raving about on this blog. She also does Alicia Keys' nails and so she was there to show love to her client and friend.
and here's my GQ fam!
Major Chedda & Major A

if you'd like to check out Greenhouse every Wednesday is Models Night, it's a great night to mingle with beautiuful people at this new beautiful spot. Just say you're on Ricardo's list!
If you went to any of the release parties that took place in NY thisa week or in any other city please feel free to leave a comment. And if you've checked out Alicia's new album let me know what you think about it.... I actually haven't heard it yet.......................................................

Weekend Outing: Las Vegas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This past weekend I had the BEST time in Vegas for my good friend DeeDee's Birthday!! I mean, I've been on lots of trips and I can tell you it's not too often that a group of females can hang out for days straight and have not 1 arguement, 1 money issue, or 1 cry baby out the bunch and just have complete FUN!!!! That's exactly what this trip was about.

I was the last to arrive on Thursday night so I missed all the first day fun! :(

The ladies took a limo ride over to the beautiful Palazzo Hotel and had diner at Lavo restaurant. It's an Italian restarant that was created by the people that brought us Tao (so you know it's on point!) . I heard about this darn meal for the rest of the trip!! It must of been really good. Lavo is definitely a must visit during my next Vegas trip.
I see yall Players!

Hey Birthday girl!!

When I finally landed in Sin City it was a matter of running to the room, changing and meeting the group over at club TRYST in the Wynn.

That spot is Huge!! and really pretty inside. Part of the club is outdoors and theres a gorgeous waterfall.... perfect for picture taking lol

On Friday we got up nice and early and visited the indoor pool at our hotel. (NO pool pics yet)Vegas was COLD so any outdoor pool action was NOT happening! After a nice swim we changed and headed to this cute little Burger spot downstairs from our hotel called Grind Burger!

YUMMY!!! No seriously!!, the BEST!

Better believe all the Lemonades on the table are SPIKED!! (hey, when in Vegas!....) lol

After lunch we went over to Caesar's Palace for some Gambling!! Miss Rashida over here was getting it at the 3 card Poker table! She even got a chain from one of the dealers! Now that's Major!

While at Caesars we got some reduced tickets to the Eiffel Tower ride over at Paris Hotel so we headed there next and had a ball the whole way there...

The "ride" itself is super WAK!! I'm so glad we didn't pay full price for it. And it's literally an Elevator ride lmao! But you know us, we can make anything fun! It was kicks and giggles the whole time with these girls!

...and here's the view from the TOP!

Next we headed to Tao at the Venetian for dinner! This is my favorite spot in Vegas!

They brought out a gigantic Fortune Cookie dessert for the Bday girl. This was delicious and really cute... there were fortune cookies for everyone at the table! I don't remember what mine said but I remember really liking it... IDK or maybe it was the drinks! LOL ;)

My favorite dish at Tao are their steamed shrimp dumplings!

Look at my homegirl Vanessa fronting like she knows how to use chopsticks! :D jk!

and here I am acting like I don't have any home training lmao!!

So.... do you remember those spiked lemonades we had earlier plus the casino drinks and the drinks at Tao! Yeah..... so lots of drinks all day long = NOT making it to the club that night!

LMAO! WHYYY does this happen to me every trip smdh!

Well... since we were all really well rested from collapsing at like 10pm Friday night, the ladies and I all woke up at about 6am Saturday morning and just had a good old fashioned girl talk session for hours on end. I must admit that this might have been the best part of the trip to me!

We shared thoughts and advice with each other and just lended an ear to some and words of support to others! There was so much love in the room it was beautiful!!

(No PICS!!! this was super EXCLUSIVE!! -- not to mention I'm not putting up morning face shots on here hahaha!)

So anyway, we decided to head out to the MGM for some more gambling and fun to start our day. After finding a teriffic shoe store (that we stayed in forever) we hit up the casino and I won't say any names but lets just say someone whose named after a princess hit a BIG number and won LOTS of money!!! :D WOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!

I, myself never witnessed someone win that much that fast before. NOW I see why people can have false hopes and spend their savings away thinking that their next hand will be that lucky one. Must be NICE!!! ;)

After some gambling we had lunch at a Chinese restaurant in the MGM called Pearl.

the General Tao's Chicken was the TRUTH!!

Schrimp in Chilli SauceShrimp & Scallop

Good old Fried rice

Crispy Garlic Chicken... The garlic spread comes on the side so you get to moderate how intense the flavoring is... this was really good!

The Honey Barbecue Glazed Spare Rib didn't last on the table long enough to get a pic lol it was THAT good!!

Fire Roast Mongolian Beef

Crisp-Fried Spider Prawn Dumpling(s) (there were more I swear lol)

After we ate we took it back to the room and got ready to make up for our missed night of FUN and our last night in Vegas!!!

OK Ladies we're ALL looking lovely!! Let's hit it!
and we're OFF!!

This guy was shouting out to everyone that he just turned 21! He was soo happy!!!! :)

and I would have been doing the same!! lol Go head boy!
Last weekend also happened to be the big UFC match where fan favorite Kimbo Slice beat out Houston Alexander by a unanimous decision in the 3rd round! I definitely sat that's more reason to celebrate!!

and of course it wouldn't be an official trip to Sin City without..... *singing* SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! :D

Happy Bday honey!! I love you girl!

If you've ever been to Sin City please feel free to leave a comment and share with us what your your trip was like......................................
