I have to show my girl Nik Banks some love. She was recently featured on Essence.com for their Street Style: Indoor & Instyle segment rocking this fab rouched fuschia number at a NYE event that took place here in NYC. Looking good girl!
This Go Getta Girl is also the founder & editor of the popular website The Single Girl's Guide to Men. Her site is a one stop shop for ladies looking for everything from how to attract the pertfect man to how to get the perfect tan. I absolutely love it!
Valentine's day is coming up ladies. Make sure you check out her site! And please go to Essence.com and show a fellow Go Getta some love!
So as I was browsing one of my favorite blogsites today I came across a video that I had to share with you all. The Queen of Blending herself, Lauren Shurney has the funniest tutorial video where she proceeds to show us how to get that coveted "natural" look that Lil Kim has been rocking lately....
Check this out:
All jokes aside tho, this young lady in the video is UBER talented and is definitely a Go-Getta girl. Check out her Youtube channel and see for yourself!
If you too would like to get this Lil Kim inspired look please feel free to leave a message lol..........................................

Some ages ago God created the quintessential form of what a "mother" should be (in my opinion). Patient, supportive and uncoditionally loving!!
And her name is Patricia!
Today is my mom's Birthday and I can't express how grateful I am to have such a beautiful person for a parent. There's never been a time in my life where I felt like I couldn't confide in my mom about anything that I was going thru. To this day I still give her the uttmost respect and hope that 1 day I can be half the mother that she is!
YES!! It's only a matter of time before my favorite rappers takes over and becomes your favorite rapper too!
J. Cole is currently in the studio with Nerd probably creating some of the the hottest ish we've heard since.................................................................................... the Carter III/BP3!
Loves it!!
p.s. not feeling that mustache on Pharell lol!
And because I love yall like that I'll share one of my J. Cole fave's witcha!
I just want to take a moment to acknowledge the devastating earthquake that took place on the small island of Hispanola this past Tuesday, destroying the capital of Haiti, Port-au-Prince. My heart truly goes out to the island nation and all it's people, there... as well as those descendants all across the world. I can barely watch the news without crying. This is a complete tragedy and the last thing this struggling country needed.
This is a time for us all to work together and do all that we can to rebuild this country both emotionally and physically. I have already begun to do my part by sending a text, "YELE", to 501501 thereby making a small $5 donation to Wyclef's relief efforts. You can text up to 6 times. You can also help by texting "HAITI" to the number 90999. And of course you can donate to the the Red Cross on their website.
If you have any family and/or friends effected by this disaster I give my deepest condolences to you and I urge you to leave a comment. or if you 'd just like to share your thoughts on this catastrophe please feel free to do so....... <3

"The best way to predict the future is to create it" ~Divine Bradley
The Social Mogul himself Mr. Divine Bradley continues to find new ways to instill pride and positivity in our communities. The founder of Team Revolution has teamed up with artist Catherine Westergaard to begin their efforts on a new project. One that aims to highlight and uplift the beauty in Black women. It is called "The Shape of Black".
At first I was hesitant to be a part of this project which in part features women, baring their naked painted bodies in an effort to embrae and show off their many shapes & sizes.
When the castings began I didn't go to any and later sent word to Divine explaining that while I absolutely love the goal of this project and totally see it's relevance, I wasn't at my best, physically and didn't feel comfortable participating at this time. But Divine reminded me that this is exactly the point of the Shape of Black project. To stop reinforcing the way in which society has us holding ourselves to unrealistic standards of perfection and accepting the beauty that we are, just the way we are.
In addition to the Photo Installation, The Shape of Black also consists of a segment of video clips of women discussing their body images. Check it out:
"a portion of the proceeds will go to create social programs to offer young woman support and a safe place to learn skills and methods to empower themselves in a modern culture that idealizes unrealistic measures of beauty"
So I realize this is bigger than just little old me and the fact that I have a few more rolls than I did last year. Big deal! I'm still beautiful, God still made art when I was created and I want to share these notions with as many other black women as I can.
As hypocritical as it sounds I am still unsure about doing the Photo Installation part of the project, but I plan on marching down to the next casting call on January 23rd (the day before me bday!!) and looking right into that camera and sharing some personal words with whomever's on the other end willing to listen!
Guys please keep an eye out for the finished project. I have a feeling this is going to be HUGE!

Hey guys, so you know I LOVE LOVE LOVE music and I keep my ears to the streets for what's moving an shaking off the radar. We can't only let the radios dictate what we listen to.....
Well it's a new year and I definitely feel like Brooklyn rapper Preme da Prez is coming out the gates really strong for 2010. Dare I say this could be a 2010 anthem right here.
His new single "I Deserve to Be Here" is fire! It features a talented artist by the name of Kayla Bliss that's a force to be reckoned with herself! (you can check out Kayla's myspace page here). Look out for these two and please check out their song below:
It kind of gives me a Maino "All the Above" vibe, like I know I'm the truth and nobody can tell me different.
Ok so a couple things about my guilty little shoe pleasure!! I've spotted 2 of the hottest pairs in the next wave of Louboutins for the upcoming SS 2010 season.
Take a look:
In the words of fashion master RZ..." I DIE!"
These girls cheer me up instantly! Seriously how can you look at them and be upset. They immediately make me thing of crushing the Ocean Drive scene or stuntin on Rodeo.... or just shutting any good ole BK block down ;)
What do you guys think of them!!?!
Okay so now that we've mentioned what's hot... let's take a look at what's NOT!
I'm sorry but I am NOT feeling these new Louboutins that came out for the fellas...
Now the Chuck Taylor-esque ones I can actually see a rich skater boy rocking becuz they actually have that edgy grunge look thats sorta fashion forward and time warped all at the same time.
I guess my beef with these shoes are that I can't see any of MY male friends in them. I'm assuming that this is just a peek into whats to come for the male line BUT lord please let there be much more variety on the way because fellas.... this aint it!
But that's just my opinion what do you think?.......................................................................
