Sex And The City 2!!!!!!!!

Sex & The City 2 was released in theatres this past Thursday 5/27 and you know your girl was in the very first show of the day... or should I say night... My friends and I caught the 12:01 am show on Wednesday night!
I know you ain't just call me a fiend! lol
Hey, I wasn't about to let some ungrateful wenches see my girls before me and try to spoil it for me. Not happening! :p

So overall I thought the movie was really good!
Of course it didn't top the first S&TC movie but hey, what could possibly top Carry marrying Mr. Big --other than a divorce :-(

Exactly!

Of course we had our drinks in our cups just the way Carrie and the ladies would want us to! When did they ever get together without a couple Martini's ;)

(here's one of the flicks that I took during the movie -- much to the annoyance of the viewers around me lol but who cares???????)

One of the scenes that really stood out to me was the one where Miranda and Charlotte really got to bond! This was a new dynamic to me. In the series it seemed like even though all the ladies were good friends each had a seperate & special bond with Carrie. At times we would see Carrie interacting with Charlotte or Carrie interacting with Miranda but I honestly can't count on half of one hand how many time I remember seeing Charlotte & Miranda really having their own time together.

It was different yet realistic. I guess that speaks to the way that friendships change over time. We all walk different paths in life and believe it or not Charlotte & Miranda (both being married with children) have more in common now with each other than any of the other ladies... who woulda thunk it!
My friends DD & Tonika also joined in on the festivities!

another one of my bootleg movie pics lol

A second debate that came about between the girls and I after we saw the movie was this whole notion that Big came up with of he and Carrie spending 2 days away from each other every week to keep the excitement in their relationship. Now I can completely understand the concept of distance making the heart grow fonder but if you have to spend that much time away from your partner then maybe you guys need to reconsider the relationship. :/ ....what do you guys think about that?

Well...... if you've seen the movie, please feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts on this sequal.......................................................................................................

C.R.E.A.M.

Howard University never seems to run out of rising talent! Check out the Trailer to the movie C.R.E.A.M., an Indie film created by HU students.

This looks like it could be pretty interesting:

On a sidenote, could they have found a lighter girl on campus to play the lead female? Sorry just a random observation.

What do you guys think?....................................................... Read more!

"This is It"

Last night my boyfriend and I joined friends to go take in Michael Jackson's last hoorah! The movie "This Is It", which documents the preparations for his highly anticipated final world tour.

I have to admit that I was initially skeptical about what I was going to see. We all know that physically MJ seemed to be a frail guy, and during the time of his recent unexpected death there were accusations of massive drug abuse and health issues. Some of his own family members insisted that there were several impersonators used during the filming of this movie and openly expressed their disapproval of the project.

Well from one MJ fan to the next let me just tell you that This Is It... is IT! Look out because when this finally makes it to DVD it'll be a collector's peice and almost impossible to get your hands on.

"This Is It" wasn't just about dancing on a stage. Not that any of Michael's performances ever are. But from what I saw last night, the "This Is It" tour was getting ready to top anything MJ has ever done, with insane explosives, stage sets that can rival the biggest broadway plays, green screen back drops that brought every song to life and more of what we love most about this man, Michael's incredible and innate ability to entertain us all!

As we all already know, MJ was/is, always will be a musical genius. This film just confirms that notion while giving us a closer look at Michael's personality and work ethic as a performer. He was playful with his fellow performers while mainting and expecting a high level of perfection.
In the opening scenes of the film we see the process by which they bring in dancers from all over the world, choosing the best on the planet. Knowing this, Michael pushed his dancers, back up singers, musicians and directors all to do their best!
The lead acoustic guitarist, Orianthi Panagaris, got to showcase her skills at one point and Michael was telling homegirl, "this is YOUR time to shine!". She is super talented and MJ definitely brought the best out of her.
During the film they would cut away to different rehersal days and I remember thinking wow Michael Jackson really does dress like Michael Jackson all the time lol. There's one scene where he has on a bomber jacket and some jeans and he looks soooo odd in average clothes. It's hilarious.

One of my favorite part of the film was when MJ was unhappy with the sound of the music... He gave some orders to the band then said "With Love, L.O.V.E." just so that they understood that behind his directions there were no hard feelings and that he wanted everything to be perfect because he has love and integrity for everyone's work and wants it to be the best that it can be.

**looking up** MJ I hope you don't mind if I take this saying from you because I feel like it's the perfect thing to say after some seemingly harsh words to a loved one :).
To put it in Layman's terms: "Get my ish right! ..... with Love tho, L.O.V.E.!" hahaa, I hear that MJ!!

My favorite performance scenes from the "This Is It" movie are: Smooth Criminal, The Way You Make me Feel, They Don't Care About Us & Earth Song(where MJ talks extensively about his love for this planet and our responsibility to take care of it - I cried alot during this part) and of course the timeless... Thriller!!

Although MJ tried to reserve his energy through many of the rehersals you could see the admiration in the eyes of everyone on set, and he would hit that high note and continue a riff or go off on into a dance sequence and everyone watching would lose it! lol Could you imagine what that must of felt like to theose kids that were working with him!? Truly a dream come true!
Then he would say, "Why'd you make me do that I wasn't suppose to do it full out!" lol

I honestly didn't think that I would have enjoyed this movie as much as I did. I definitely have to have the DVD in my collection when it comes out so that my kids can see the final masterpeice of one of the greatest entertainers to ever live!
P.S. on Friday some friends of mine are planning a private viewing of the "This Is It" movie at a theatre in Brooklyn. I just might join them to see the film again. Yes it was that good to ME! Also, my audience was WAK! with a capital W. I think alot of a movie experience is who you see it with. There's nothing I hate more than an audeince that acts like they're too good to clap after a great scene. smdh

Chyna is so Precious!

For young ladies, of my generation, there are certain books that we most definitely read growing up, some even several times over. Books like Fly Girl, The Coldest Winter Ever, B-More Careful & Push are staples in our collection. For me personally they bring back memories of my younger days and have even helped to teach me a thing or two of what not to do, and how to cope with certain obstacles in life. Lessons that I learned by walking with the leading ladies of these stories. Rooting for them, feeling their pain, crying with them and laughing with them... their stories are our stories.

I still remember the day my cousin Michelle gave me this little red book with big black letters on the front that spelled one simple word... PUSH! It would turn out to be one of the most important reads of my life! (like Coldest Winter) I had never read anything like that before. There was sex, incest, abuse, illiteracy.... and by the end of the book there was hope, education, love and so much promise for the possibilities that lay ahead for our determined protagonist.

The book Push is a tesitment to the notion that dreams do come true. When you're hungry enough for it you can acheive it. Precious wanted to learn. She wanted to be loved. She just wanted an opportunity towards a different life, a better life. And despite her mother, her peers and her circumstances saying otherwise she acheived those things.
Life is something else. I find it in a way poetic that the dreams of my friend Chyna Layne are being realized through her involvement in the movie remake of Push, Precious. Chyna is a young woman from the mean streets of East New York that has dedicated herself to hard work and forging her way to the top. Finally the grinding, the Dr. Miracle's commercials, tons of independant films and minor roles are paying off and she is being recognized for the force that she is! Dreams really do come true!

I still remember the first time she mentioned to my boyfriend (her best friend) that she was going to be in the movie version of Push. It was almost as though she didn't get how BIG of a deal this was going to be. I was super excited for her and I already knew then, that her life was about to change. Well...... she definitely gets it now lol!

The beautiful and talented Ms. Layne was on Good Day New York today talking about the movie Precious and the praises it's been receiving all over the film industry. This film presented by Oprah Winphrey & Tyler Perry (OMG!) has been taking the film festivals by storm; so far it's won Grand Jury Prize for best drama, an Audience Award at Sundance, People's Choice in Toronta and Monique (who plays the role of the abusive mother) won a special Grand Jury award for acting.

Check out her interview:

I couldn't be happier for Chyna!! I personally think she should start lobbying for her role in the film remake of Coldest Winter, whenever that actually happens. I've been holding my breathe for years now that we'll eventually have that movie, and I'm not going to give up on it just yet :). Come on Jada I thought you were working on this.......
Can't you guys see Chyna as a Simone or Lauren. I love it! :D
